ORGANIC AGRICULTURE CERTIFICATION PROCESS
  • To be compatible with nature. The first principle is to plan the agricultural activities in line with the ecological balance, to choose the type of product suitable for the ecology of the region, to protect the wildlife and to fit the facilities and structures to the natural life.
  • To be self-sufficient. The second principle is to aim at plant and animal production, to give importance to waste management and to turn to renewable internal resources in energy supply.
  • To be sustainable. In order to obtain the highest yield from soil, it is the third principle to apply crop rotation, soil, water and biological diversity and to apply economic production and operation methods.
  • Being healthy. It is the fourth principle to use harmful chemical products and drugs in agricultural production, to avoid biological accumulations and residues, to keep health first for human, animal and all other living things, to ensure compliance with health at every stage from production to consumption.
  • To be traceable. The fifth principle is to comply with standards and legal regulations in agricultural production, to keep records of all processes, to control every stage of production and to comply with the certification criteria.

In accordance with these principles, producer organizations or producer associations producing according to organic farming production techniques may apply to a certification institution and receive an Organic Agriculture Certificate. An Application Form must first be completed. When the certification body receives this form, it prepares a contract proposal after the preliminary examination and sends it to the requesting organization for approval. As soon as the organization approves this document, certification works will be started. In the meantime, if a process is carried out to the certification body, production stages and post-production, all information and documents regarding these stages are delivered to the certification body.

If these inspections are positive, the producer or producer union shall be granted an Organic Agriculture Certificate indicating that organic farming conditions are met. If the audit work is negative, the situation is notified to the manufacturer or the producer association and the certification process is restarted after the negativity is eliminated.
